Sarah Bruno

Sarah Bruno is the Chief Operating Officer of the Truman National Security Project. As COO, Sarah oversees the general operations and management of the organization, as well as providing support to the Board of Directors and other special projects. With a background in non-profit fundraising, Sarah also provides strategic oversight to the Development Department.

Before joining the Truman Project as Director of Development in April 2010, Sarah served as the National Development Director at America Votes, where she had been since March of 2007. Previous to America Votes, Sarah was a Development Writer at the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities. In 2007, Sarah was elected to Chair the Women’s Information Network (WIN), a networking group for Democratic, pro-choice women in Washington, DC, a position she held until 2008. Before coming to Washington, Sarah worked as Development Coordinator at the Boston Area Rape Crisis Center in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

Currently, Sarah serves on the Board of Directors of the DC Rape Crisis Center, volunteers with various other organizations and political campaigns, and sings with the Congressional Chorus. A life-long feminist and long-time advocate for social justice, Sarah holds a Master’s degree in macro social work from Boston University and a B.A. in Anthropology with a Women’s Studies concentration from Haverford College. She grew up in New Hampshire and is a die-hard Red Sox fan.
