Sidney Olinyk
Sidney Olinyk manages the Democracy & Human Rights Initiative and oversees leadership development programs at the Truman National Security Project. She plans delegation visits to the greater MENA region and fosters partnerships with democracy-supporting organizations. In addition, she develops and implements strategy for the Leadership Development Department and runs the Truman Security Fellowship Program, where she manages nine teams nationwide, 16 national security expert groups, the Fellowship National Selection Committee and is the lead on planning the Truman Project’s annual three-day national conference.Prior to Truman, Sidney worked at a strategic government relations firm where she contributed to comprehensive political strategy for international clients in the Middle East and Africa. She has also gained experience in the Antitrust Division at the U.S. Department of Justice, where she conducted legal research and analysis for several international merger investigations. She has served as part of the public affairs team at the British Embassy in Washington and on the marketing team at the National Geographic Society.
Sidney holds a dual B.A. in International Studies and Media and Government Studies from the American University in Washington, D.C. She holds a M.Sc. in Global Politics from the London School of Economics, where her course concentration focused on international development and her dissertation examines the status and regional implications of Iraqis refugees in the Middle East post-2003.
