Truman Project Statement on Notice of Mueller Report

Washington, DC – Following announcement that Attorney General William Barr has received notice that Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation has been completed, Truman’s President and CEO Jenna Ben-Yehuda issued the following statement:

“Special Counsel Mueller’s investigation has been a critical effort in service of our national security. To date, it has produced 199 criminal charges against 37 defendants and resulted in 7 guilty convictions and 5 prison sentences. The conclusion of this investigation is welcome news, because it means that our nation can learn from Russia’s interference in the 2016 election, take the further steps towards accountability for those involved, and determine how to protect our democracy moving forward.”

“The American people deserve to see Mueller’s report in its entirety, and Attorney General Barr must commit to its release immediately. All documents in connection with the investigation should also be preserved and released. And regardless of what the report contains, investigations by House leaders into other possible wrongdoings in the Trump orbit should continue. Recent intransigence from the White House in complying with legitimate oversight requests from Capitol Hill is unacceptable.”
