Anthony Robinson serves as the Director of Training and Public Engagement for Truman Center for National Policy and Truman National Security Project. He is responsible for designing, organizing, and conducting a wide range of issue-based and skill-building trainings and briefings for Truman Members, allied organizations, and political and policy leaders. He works closely with Chapter Engagement staff to execute training strategy throughout the country.
Prior to joining Truman in May 2017, Anthony served as a White House appointee during the Obama Administration at the Department of Defense in the Office of the Secretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness, first with the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Reserve Affairs and then with the office of the Principal Deputy Under Secretary for Personnel and Readiness. Due to his work across multiple military portfolios and his handling of legislative matters at the Department of Defense, he was awarded the Medal for Exceptional Public Service by the Secretary of Defense. Additionally, Anthony served as the Special Advisor to the Assistant Secretary for Veterans Employment and Training Service (VETS) and as the Special Advisor to the Assistant Secretary in the Office of Aviation and International Affairs at the Department of Transportation.
Anthony has also served as a marketing and promotions director developing communications strategies and training resources as well as an NCO ground supply operations specialist in the U.S. Marine Corps during the drawdown of the Gulf War and in a humanitarian mission in Bosnia. He has a BA degree from North Carolina A&T State University and is a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated. Anthony is also an expert thrower of Mardi Gras beads from a float and an adrenaline junkie who is planning to one day climb Mount Kilimanjaro and run with the bulls. He currently resides in Washington, DC.
