AÕshanti Gholar is the Director of African American and Youth Engagement for the Democratic National Committee. Prior to coming to the DNC, AÕshanti served as the Manager of National Partnerships for United Way Worldwide, the worldÕs largest non-profit, managing their partnerships to leverage the organizationÕs work in education, income, and health. From March 2011 to December 2013, AÕshanti served as a political appointee in the administration of President Barak Obama, serving as Special Assistant to the Secretary in the Office of Public Engagement of the U.S. Department of Labor where she worked with African Americans, women, veterans, and young people around the nation on the many programs, policies, and services that DOL offers to educate and assist the public. In 2012, A'shanti took a leave of absence from the Department of Labor to serve as the first ever Director of Public Engagement for the Democratic National Convention Committee in Charlotte, NC. A native Nevadan, she is the recipient of several state honors and scholarships, and is proud to be a Truman Project Partner.
