Politico: Ryan’s Support For DOD Excludes Other Agencies
Defense hawks are cheering Mitt Romney’s choice of Paul Ryan as his running mate, with the top Republicans on the House and Senate Armed Services Committees heaping praise on the Wisconsin congressman.
After all, as chairman of the House Budget Committee, Ryan has had a starring role in the Republican effort to fence off the defense budget, shielding the Pentagon from spending cuts while pushing reductions in just about everything else.
But the narrative of Ryan as a full-fledged defense hawk doesn’t quite add up, critics say.
