Truman Project Lays out Policy Proposal on Syria
Today, on a press call with reporters, Truman Project CEO Dr. Rachel Kleinfeld and Policy Director Leigh O’Neill outlined policy options for the US and Middle East to address the situation in Syria.
On the call, Truman Project Policy Director Leigh O’Neill suggested that providing anti-tank equipment to vetted rebels is the best policy option in Syria. She said, “While the anti-tank option is somewhat controversial, the primary threat to civilians in Syria is the regime’s ground forces. To that end, anti-tank weapons are the least worst option to tip the scale toward opposition forces so they can fight the Syrian military but limit casualties.”
