Bill Murphy Jr. is the author of In a Time of War (2008), about West Point’s class of 2002, and a forthcoming book (as yet untitled), about Harvard Business School and entrepreneurship, which is set for release in May 2010. Bill reported from Iraq for The Washington Post in 2007, and worked as the reporting assistant to Bob Woodward on the books State of Denial (2006) and The Secret Man (2005).  His work has appeared in many other publications as well, including Newsweek and The Atlantic. A lawyer, Bill previously worked as a trial attorney for the U.S. Department of Justice, and served in the Army Judge Advocate General’s Corps.  Bill lives in Washington, DC with his wife, Melissa. He is the brother of Truman Fellow Jim Murphy, of Los Angeles. Both brothers insist they independently applied for the program without mentioning it to the other.
