Zachary Devlin-Foltz

Zachary Devlin-Foltz is a 2008 graduate of Macalester College with degrees in Political Science and Economics.  His undergraduate research focused on the relationship between state failure and the political influence of Islamist extremists and culminated in a co-authored article in Contemporary Security Studies in April, 2010.  After graduation, Zack spent a year as a Thomas J. Watson Fellow researching the culture, traditions, and violence of soccer fans in Paraguay, Argentina, and Mexico.  More recently, he has written a Security Brief on extremism in Africa for the Africa Center for Strategic Studies and spent five months in Cairo, Egypt studying Arabic.  Currently, he is working at DAI, a development contractor in Bethesda, MD, in the Crisis Mitigation and Stability Operations sector.  Zack is applying for Officer Candidate School in the Marine Corps and hopes to ship out in January, 2011.
