Hansen Mak is a national security professional currently serving as the U.S. Deputy Assistant National Cyber Director at the White House, focusing on national strategy and policy implementation to secure cyberspace and ensure the United States is in the strongest possible position to realize all the benefits and potential of our digital future.
Previously, he was the Deputy Assistant Director for Regional Planning and Program Design at the Defense Security Cooperation Agency, where he was responsible for leading deliberate multi-year regional/country-level planning, resource integration, interagency collaboration, and managing Congressional engagements that enable the agency to build partner capacity through security cooperation and assistance. He had also served in various other leadership roles within the Department of Defense that include strategy and budget formulation, policy development, resource management, programming, congressional and legislative affairs.
Prior to entering Federal government service, he was a strategy and operations consultant with Deloitte and is a veteran of the U.S. Army from 1996-2008. He is a graduate of the Air War College and Norwich University. Hansen is a Defense Council member with the Truman National Security Project where he help to co-author the report on “Transforming State: Pathways to a More Just, Equitable, and Innovative Institution", and recognized through the “Asian American and Pacific Islander National Security and Foreign Policy Next Generation Leaders” and the “2021 U.S. National Security & Foreign Affairs Leadership List.”
